Hostcentric merger creates web hosting powerhouse
Hostcentric, Inc., one of
the largest privately held international providers of Web hosting,
application management and e-commerce solutions for small- and medium-sized
businesses, announced today that it has formed by merging five industry-leading
operating companies. The companies are Alldomains.com, Inc. of Pleasant
Hill, Calif.; Maxim Computer Systems Corp. of Fremont, Calif.; NSI
Web Design of Farmingdale, New York; Virtualscape, Inc. of New York
City; and Web2010 of Orlando, Fla.
The newly formed company offers middle-market businesses a variety
of advanced e-solutions, including infrastructure support, dedicated
Web hosting and co-location managed services, streaming media and
leading software applications services as well as global domain
registrar services.
In May, Hostcentric became one of the first companies certified
by Oracle to provide hosting solutions for Oracle applications,
including the recently released Oracle® E-Business Suite 11i,
the industry's first fully integrated e-business applications suite.
The five operating companies of Hostcentric host more than 44,500
Web sites for about 19,000 customers on approximately 600 dedicated
and 390 co-located servers. With a workforce of more than 150 employees,
Hostcentric is well positioned to implement its aggressive growth
strategy.
"Historically, each of these companies has been profitable
and has experienced tremendous revenue growth from 100 to 280 percent,"
explained Gregory D. McKown, chief executive officer of Hostcentric.
"We are looking forward to integrating the talent and experience
of each company into the Hostcentric team."
"Combining the complementary services of these leading firms
positions Hostcentric to take full advantage of the enormous growth
opportunities in Web hosting, domain name registration and application
hosting services," added Fred Pounds, chief operating officer
and chief financial officer of Hostcentric.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), revenues for
Web hosting services will grow from $1.8 billion in 1999 to $18.9
billion in 2003. Meanwhile, global domain registrations are projected
to soar ten-fold during the next three years (Deloitte Consulting),
and Forrester Research expects application services hosting revenues
to surge from $933 million in 1999 to more than $11.3 billion by
2003.
"With this move, Hostcentric is completing an important expansion
at a pivotal time with the right people," McKown said. "Through
the hard work of our talented employees and the contributions of
our shareholders, Hostcentric is closer to attaining its vision
to becoming the industry leader in providing a comprehensive package
of vital e-commerce solutions to middle-market companies conducting
business on the Internet."
