Using cheap webhosting may end up getting you even less than you pay for with poor service

Whenever you see cheap associated with anything you should approach buying it with caution. It is not always good and cheap webhosting may not give you what you need. One way to get inexpensive or even free web space is by agreeing to allow popup ads from other companies on your site. If you have a personal site for friends and relatives this may not be a problem. If you have a business site you may not want to offer ads for other companies without control of the content. There is no point in having a competitor take up space and viewers from your site. Cheap webhosting in this case really means providing an outlet for others to advertise in.

Cheap webhosting may also be available because it offers very few options along with the service. The amount of space offered may be very small and not able to accommodate flash or other features. It is a good place to start for people just learning their way around creating their own web page. It is not suitable for anything larger especially ecommerce or other heavy traffic sites. If you are able to find cheap space with a host online there is usually a reason why. Professional companies will sell you services as you need them with no hidden agenda.

Think carefully before you enter into an agreement for cheap webhosting. It may not be exactly as it appears and you will have a hard time changing services after you have committed. Saving money may not be the best plan for growing your business.
